"Judy Greenberg did a superb job of
helping us with our cross-country house hunt and closing.
Judy quickly came to understand what we were looking for in a home
and helped us with the bids and the negotiating process, both while
we were looking at houses and later, when we were busy 2,000 miles
away with other aspects of the relocation. Judy completely
anticipated and understood all of the little things that needed to
be handled for us remotely and she routinely took care of them,
often before we even thought to ask. We highly recommend Judy
Greenberg to anyone dealing with a
relocation." Laura and Tom

I'll advise you on the suburb’s hottest real estate
markets...where housing developments and investment opportunities
are growing the fastest.
You may be moving to Chicago because of a job transfer, as a
student in one of our highly regarded Chicago universities and
colleges, or simply to start a new life in a new place. No matter
what your reason is, relocating can be a stressful experience.
I promise I can make the relocation process go quickly and
easily. I can assist you in finding the best
preschools, arrange for movers, packers, and even concierge
services to help you get settled in your new home.
Before you move to Chicago, let me give you three pieces
of advice
1. Do not order a hotdog with only ketchup. People in Chicago
order their dog with mustard, celery salt, onion, sweet relish,, a
dill pickle spear, tomato slices, and sport peppers on a poppy
seeded bun
2. Invest in a warm winter coat and a car scraper
3. There’s really only two seasons, winter and
construction.
A
Word About Utilities
Changing jobs and moving to a new area is stressful. You need
someone who is connected, that can handle the details. Right
before a move, I will provide you with the phone numbers of the
utility companies to call in order to transfer the utilities into
your name. If you are the seller, do not turn off the gas and
electricity before the closing. If this is not done you could
easily find yourself in a home without running water or lights.
Make very sure that the company has the correct date and time to
shut off the utility. My last closing the gas company mixed up the
dates, and turned off the gas too early . We had to wait for the
gas company to come back 2 days later to turn the gas back on for
us to test the stove and the fireplace right before the
closing. If we had done the walk through the night
before the closing, the closing would not have happened.
The companies that you need to call are your cable provider, the
local telephone company, your gas company, electricity company, the
water company, and the waste company. If you are no longer
using the service of an old provider, make sure to request your
deposit and also leave your new address so that they can forward
payment from your deposit.
