One area I love is the family-friendly Grosse Pointe Village subdivision.  The Grosse Point Village  neighborhood boasts over 540 single family homes, two updated parks, three prime baseball fields, tennis courts, walking paths, and terrific schools.

The vast majority of the Grosse Pointe Village subdivision attends grade school in the Diamond Lake School District 76 and Adlai E. Stevenson High School. District 76 is noted for its small size and diverse population. Grosse Pointe Village is located near Westfield Hawthorn Mall. Great stores and restaurants are plentiful and close. A newly built library, the wonderful Sullivan Community Center and Family Aquatic Center is five minutes from the neighborhood. 

Located near the intersection of Route 45 and Route 83, I-294 is a ten minute drive straight up Route 45. There is a Metra station located on Route 45, two miles from the subdivision. Grosse Pointe residents have easy access to main Lake County roadways and public transportation.

There are many Vernon Hills homes for sale.  One of my favorite neighborhoods in Vernon Hills is the Hawthorn club Subdivision. 

Hawthorn  Club,  an inviting neighborhood with 276 homes was built in the late 1980s and early 1990s. All of the homes are spacious with nice-sized lots  At the back of the neighborhood are a number of “estate” homes, larger models built on bigger than average lots. I know of several families who have moved to different homes within Hawthorn Club as their families and housing needs changed. To me, remaining in one’s own neighborhood is certainly an indication of the positive feel of a community.

Children in the neighborhood attend schools in Hawthorn School District 73 and continue their high school education at Vernon Hills High School. Hawthorn Club Park has a wonderful playground surrounded by open land where both kids and adults keep busy playing soccer, baseball, softball, and many other activities. 

Residents are also within walking distance to the Larry Laschen Center, home to Vernon Hills’ park district administration and many programming opportunities. The village hall is also within walking distance, as are several small shops. The Vernon Hills Metra station is a long walk – or short drive - from the neighborhood. Illinois tollway I-294 is approximately a ten minute drive, and there is no shortage of stores and services in the general area.

I first encountered the delightful Hawthorn Club Subdivision in Vernon Hills because of my love of golf. The neighborhood is tucked behind the Vernon Hills Golf Course, a terrific public course. Hawthorn Club is located off of Evergreen Road and Route 45, nestled away from traffic and edged on one side by the golf course.

Currently there are 4 homes in the Hawthorn Club in Vernon Hills on the market.   I am going to list another ranch home… in a few weeks in case you are want to see the home before it goes on the market.
